WHY SHOULD YOU INBODY?

INBODY HELPS YOU:

  • Find your baseline so you know what you need to lose, gain, or maintain
  • Assess your Percent Body Fat so you can focus on fat loss, not just weight loss
  • Maximize your workout routine to fit your unique health and fitness goals
  • Calculate your caloric needs and create a personalized nutrition plan
  • Set realistic goals, accurately monitor progress, and stay motivated
  • Make more educated decisions to improve your body composition
  1. Understand your weight. When you measure your weight, what are you actually seeing? Weight alone is a poor indicator of health because it does not distinguish fat from muscle. The InBody divides your weight into water, muscle, and fat.
  2. Set your goals. BMI is an inaccurate way of measuring how healthy you are. Instead, focus on your body fat to weight ratio, also known as percent body fat. Measuring your Percent Body Fat allows you to better your health from the inside out so you focus on fat loss and not just weight loss.
  3. Measure your strength. How much muscle do you have in your arms? Your legs? With the InBody Test, discover how many pounds of lean mass you have distributed in each portion of your body. See which exercises bring out the best results and get balanced gains
  4. Track your progress. Knowing how much fat and muscle you have is only the beginning. With your baseline set, continuously taking the InBody Test allows you to monitor and track the changes in your body.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The InBody utilizes Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) is a method used to measure the components of the body, including muscle mass, body fat, and total body water. Alternating low and high- frequency electrical currents are sent through the water in the body via contact with electrodes to measure impedance.

The impedance is used to determine total body water (TBW), which can then be used to derive your fat-free mass—the portion of your body that does not contain fat, including your muscle and bone—and then body fat.
It works by measuring 3 main things.
  1. Resistance: When an electrical current is sent through your body, components such as body water, fat, muscle, and bone present varying levels of resistance. Body water is highly conductive and makes up a significant percentage of your body. Therefore, the greater the amount of body water, the less resistance there is.  For example, your muscles contain a high percentage of water, resulting in less resistance. Body fat, on the other hand, contains very little water and presents much higher resistance compared to muscle mass or body water.
  2. Reactance: In addition to the resistance described above, the human body presents another type of resistance, called reactance.
  3. Impedance: The combination of resistance and reactance. Impedance is the vector sum of resistance and reactance. It is what BIA devices uses to determine your body composition.
